Aurora is a charitable organization that was founded in 2018 with the mission to -one day- make leukemia and other hematological diseases 100% curable.

Aurora’s mission is to help patients and their families during this difficult period and at the same time to support the fight against hematological diseases decisively and effectively.

Working toward that goal, Aurora bases its actions on four pillars:

Housing: Aurora offers free accommodation to low-income patients whose primary residence is outside Athens or Patras, combining this with a range of services that help patients and families cope during the crucial post-bone marrow transplant period.

Psychological support: AURORA helps patients and their families by offering free counseling by specialized practitioners who are experienced in working with people facing life-threatening conditions.

Funding hospitals: expediting the introduction of the most advanced equipment and therapeutic methods in leading hospitals is a key way of supporting both patients and medical staff. Aurora’s donation of specialized equipment enabled Evangelismos Hospital, the flagship hospital of Greece, to get accreditation for the life saving CAR-T cell therapy, a form of immunotherapy which specifically targets cancer cells.

Funding research: helping fund scientific research projects and providing research grants that will speed up efforts to find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma and other malignant blood diseases. In 2020 Aurora gave its first research grant for a 2 year research program at Evangelismos
